Family Traditions

Family shapes each of us in powerful ways. It lives in our DNA, influencing who we are and guiding who we hope to become. At Family Traditions, my vision is to help you understand how your roots have impacted you—both in the ways that have strengthened you and in the ways that may have caused harm. Together, we work toward the healthiest version of yourself. I walk beside you as you create new traditions, strengthen future generations, and grow stronger roots that support a safer, more connected future for you and your family.

I’m Corina Howard, MSW, owner and practitioner of Family Traditions Visitation and Counseling, LLC. Families across Northwest Montana come to me when they need structure, clarity, and a calm, neutral professional who understands both the clinical and child‑welfare sides of family support.

Before opening my practice, I worked in Child Protective Services, where I gained extensive experience in child safety, family systems, trauma, and the realities families face during court involvement. That background shapes everything I do — from supervised visitation to individual therapy — and allows me to support families with both compassion and clear, steady guidance.

People often find me during some of the most stressful chapters of their lives. My role is to create spaces where children and adults feel safe, respected, and supported while working toward stability, reunification, or personal growth. I offer structured visitation, trauma‑informed therapy, and family support grounded in dignity, neutrality, and evidence‑based practice.

If you’re looking for a provider who understands complex family dynamics and offers consistent, judgment‑free support, I’m here to help you take the next step toward healing and stability.

Education & Background

I hold a Master of Social Work from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Montana. As an SWLC and pre‑licensed clinical social work candidate, I combine clinical training with extensive child‑welfare experience to support families with clarity, structure, and compassion.

Professional Experience:

For seven years, I worked in Child Protective Services, helping families navigate reunification, safety planning, and court involvement. That work taught me how to stay calm, neutral, and steady during difficult transitions — skills I bring directly into supervised visitation and therapy.

I’ve also supported youth in a therapeutic boarding school and worked within the public school system, helping families with IEPs, 504 plans, emotional regulation, and complex behavioral needs. These experiences give me a deep understanding of how trauma, family systems, and educational challenges intersect.

Today, I use this foundation to provide structured, trauma‑informed visitation and therapy for children, parents, and caregivers. My goal is to offer a consistent, judgment‑free space where families can build safety, stability, and meaningful connection.

I also bring experience from Parents Helping Parents, where I supported caregivers through the Parent Stress Line and facilitated groups for parents involved with CPS — work that strengthened my commitment to supporting families with dignity and respect.

Visitation Services Approach

I provide a steady, neutral environment where children and parents can spend meaningful time together. My role is to support healthy connection, maintain safety, and offer consistent guidance during what can be a stressful process.

Educational Support Groups

My groups blend practical instruction with peer support. Participants learn tools for communication, coping, and navigating systems like CPS, while also connecting with others who understand their experiences.

How I Support Families

In all of my work — visitation, therapy, groups, and consultation — my focus is on creating calm, structured, and supportive spaces where families can grow, reconnect, and move toward stability.

Therapeutic Approach

In therapy, I use a person‑centered and strengths‑based approach. I help clients explore their stories, understand patterns, and make changes at a pace that feels safe. My work is grounded in trauma‑informed, evidence‑based practice.

Consultation Program

My groups blend practical instruction with peer support. Participants learn tools for communication, coping, and navigating systems like CPS or divorce, while also connecting with others who understand their experiences.
